Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that the ceasefire is meant to cover all fronts, including Lebanon, and warned that any breach would be seen as a violation of the entire agreement. Reacting to the situation, U.S. President Donald Trump noted that Washington had not been officially informed about Iran’s decision to pause negotiations. He suggested, however, that a temporary halt in discussions might be acceptable. Trump also assured that while the United States would continue its blockade on Iranian ports, it intended to avoid an immediate military escalation.
As efforts to uphold the ceasefire continued, Trump engaged in talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and intermediaries associated with Hezbollah. Lebanon later confirmed that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to stop attacks on each other, including Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs. Nonetheless, Netanyahu issued a warning that Israel would keep targeting Hezbollah if attacks on Israeli civilians continued.

In retaliation, Iran warned that any major Israeli assault on the Lebanese capital or its southern suburbs would lead to counter-strikes on targets within Israel. Iranian officials also accused the United States of not honoring ceasefire commitments, pointing to ongoing economic pressures and military actions. Tehran has made it clear that future negotiations, including those related to its nuclear program, will remain stalled until broader security issues are addressed.
