US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commenced a significant four-day visit to India on Saturday, focusing on fortifying strategic partnerships and expanding collaboration in areas such as trade, defense, energy, and technology. This visit underscores the growing importance of the Indo-US relationship in the context of regional security and economic cooperation.
In New Delhi, Rubio is set to engage in bilateral talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His visit aligns with the upcoming Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, which includes foreign ministers from India, the United States, Japan, and Australia, positioning it as a pivotal moment for discussions on Indo-Pacific security and defense cooperation. Key topics of these discussions are expected to include critical technologies, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and the creation of resilient supply chains, especially amidst concerns about China’s increasing influence in the region.
